SGO vs EC

Steam Dudes thanks for the help on my pick up question, now I'm hunting for a boiler.

Pros/Cons with w/m SGO-7 vs the Peerless EC-05?

Gonna stick a gas gun on it

I can't find water content on the SGO. EC seems to pack a good amount of water

EC pipes off the taps with 2", that saves a few bucks.

EC is a bit lighter, Taller (easier to handle)

EC can handle several firing rates.

W/M seems to be a little less dough

Question, i haven't split a new block in all my days, is it a pain to put back together (expect a leak)? What is the gasket material and would i want new gaskets? I'm guessing just one split would be fine, the access has some stairs but we have the Lectrotruck

Thanks

another factor, Carlin is OK with the small EZ burner on the EC 05 but for the SGO seven section they 201gas, which is not readily available

I never split one but have assembled many larger boilers that you can't buy in block form. Never had an issue.

They should give you a gasket kit. I know the Weil Mclain is rubber gaskets. I don't know about the Peerless, but I think they use CI push nipples I could not verify this online. It's pretty much just 3 gaskets (Weil) or 3 Push nipples (Peerless) and some ceramic rope. Maybe some adhesive

So the Weil may be a bit easier to split and reassemble. You May be able to find a supplier or Carlin that has the larger burner available

Thanks we may roll the dice and try to move it it one piece; just not a super easy route. I'll let my guys decide (we will all be at risk). But it will good to have a 'split it' plan
