Have a little story to share hope someone will learn something

So we have this little renovation in the house remodeling the toilets the kitchen and installed 2 residential wall mount toilet carrier everything went fine we finished the copper and tested everything filled up the toilet tank and let the rest of the people come in and do their work

We came back on the job several months later and we noticed that the water is shut for the apartment was wondering who did that we started doing the installations and sure yes we open the water and the neighbor downstairs start calling up it's gushing water in my apartment

Of course the owner went crazy on us what's going on and then the searching started where it's leaking what's going on and sure there is a hole from a screw the toilet tank

So this guy absolutely saw what he did pull the screw out close the water close the walls put the tiles and now we had to rip up everything to get this repaired

But yes we gathered the courage we did what we have to do opened tiles replace the tank and now the toilet is working b"h

One nice day of work hard to describe the pain and the sad feelings So PLEASE if you ever put a screw in a toilet tank or in any other pipe for that matter notify the people don't just close the the water and walls on it because then it's worse for everyone THANK YOU

i think that is going to happen sooner or later where you have to rip the wall open to fix something if you bury a toiler rank in a wall.

I was working on a roof top unit at Sports Authority in Seekonk, MA on Christmas weekend on a windy day and took a panel off a unit and put it flat on the roof next to the unit. I went to get some tools in the truck and came back up and the panel is gone. The wind picked it up and cartwheeled it across the roof and put a big gash in the rubber roof. Found the panel 50' away and got some silicone and sealed up the roof temporally. Told the manager what happened and told him he needed a roofer.

They called because they had 6 RTUs down no heat at all. I figured driving there that someone shut off the gas or a power problem.

Turns out the fire alarm system was shutting down the RTUs. I told him if you want heat, I can bypass the relays, but I am not responsible and you're going to have to sign the slip indicating that. He said go ahead we need heat. We have been having fire alarm issues, and the alarm company hasn't fixed it we have been calling them. i said you better call them right now.

You can remove the flapper and fill valve and replace when needed through the flush cover it's though but doable (actually maybe only my hands can fit in there they skinny enough)

The only thing I have realized now on this repair job is the O ring at the bottom of the tank connection, rubber is somthing I hate to see buried in the wall maybe that's different with certain models

I don't think there is an issue with a toilet tank in the wall as Any water line in the wall can eventually cause you problems to rip out wall going how many floors down... I have seen damage 4 floors down from a screw in pipe behind the kitchen started leaking 3 years after house was built

Here in Brooklyn every inch counts and it counts a lot🤑

Doesn't the building have a big enough service to use a flushometer?

It's always frustrating when someone messes up and tries to hide it, leaving someone else to take the wrath of the homeowner and then fix it.

Agreed. It's always best to come clean immediately when something like this happens.

I could have done a flushometer probably but people don't like it in residential and also it's not that much space savings

Kind of surprised the plumbing codes don't require a steel plate for protection of something that vulnerable hidden in a wall, like they do with many other plumbing and electrical situations.

Kind of surprised the plumbing codes don't ….have a service panel requirement.

I don't want the government involved in the this we have enough already…

If Manufacturers should make them with that steel plate maybe some of us will pay the extra 💵 (recently I become among those who would 🤔)
