Location of two-pipe steam system radiator steam traps below floor

Inspected a two-pipe system in a two-story apartment building. Radiators were in fixed enclosures. Their steam traps were in the basement just above where the radiator return lines connected to the condensate return main. Is this OK? If not, why, and what can the issues be with that arrangement?

This. I've seen quite a few such installations. As long as the return lines are properly pitched toward the traps, they won't bang.
