    @creger.robert Said: "(nothing underground)"

    How does snowmelt work if there is nothing underground?

    If the manifold is remotely mounted, which they nearly always are, I would use pex pipe to the manifolds and it obviously needs to be buried at that point. the buried supply and return piping should have no fittings except from copper inside the boiler room, and to a brass or stainless manifold, and should be insulated and sleeved. Fittings from copper to pex will need to be brass, from pex to manifold should be brass, I would recommend the piping in the boiler room be copper, and to use an irrigation valve access box for the remote manifold so you can access it if needed.

    lol yes tubing is underground-im talking about a pex to pex connection brass or plastic

    If the pex is buried then NO connections at all, if it is inside then transition to copper with a brass fitting, if you are piping the whole boiler in pex then just use whatever, highly recommend piping your boiler in copper though. Rarely if ever would I need to make a pex to pex connection on a typical snow melt install.

    boiler is all copper-Im talking about extending pex mains to get it to boiler area-it is strictly a pex to pex connection

    I prefer the brass pex connections

    If it is a splice underground they have a wrap tape to protect it.

    I don't think an expansion plastic fitting, Rehau, Uponor, Mr Pex, etc, would not need to be wrapped?

    Just remember flow rates will be lower in pex tube compared to equal sized copper.

    PPI website has a nice calculator for pex flowrates.
