Getting ready to replace my System2000 E2

I have had the system 2000 E2 for over 9 years. Stared with oil and due to oil cost and oil companies knowing the efficiencies of the system I had to ultimately purchase oil other open market. I then converted the unit to gas. I had to have the same company service it because there was a lack of qualified companies. I also forgot to mention when first installed the company that did it had to come back. He placed to close to the back wall and we would have had no way to service it. After getting the conversion done it ran well. Then over the last 3 years I have had to replace multiple values due to continuous issues along with the singular serculating pump. Also had the same issue with the pressure relief value blowing releasing water. If I wasn't home it would have flooded my basement. This was after haveing my routine service for the year done. It then started to make a horrible internal noise. I was advised it was the internal fan. I was told it's a $$$$ pc to replace but requires taking the unit apart to get to it. I have to date paid close to $5000 in fixes and I am not willing to spend another dollar to replace an internal fan. If anyone want to purchase the system from me because they are handy reach out to me directly at andy@goldenbox.com. I will sell it for $5000.00 as is.

A sad commentary on EK whereby their own qualified installers are either not competent or complete scammers. There is no possibility that the internal fan costs $5K to replace. A total scam.

Seems all your complaints have nothing actually to do with the system 2000 E2 boiler.

Any Relief Valve (ASME 30 psi) with any boiler can fail or leak due to other failed components. Probably not a boiler issue. And your service company is not Psychic.

Circulator Pumps fail, probably not a boiler issue.

The failed fan is probably in the burner that you chose to change to and the same fan on a different boiler could also fail. Probably not a boiler issue.

Sometimes people do not have English as their first language.

Chastising them for switching "values" to "valves" and misspelling "circulation" pump just to discredit their experience is the epitome of unhelpful and grossly unfair.

The place is called "Heating Help" for a reason. If you don't want to help, just ignore the post.

My major point, is all the complaints can and do happen to any hot water boiler system, since they are not actually boiler issues, they are issues with the supporting equipment. So scrapping or trying to sell a used boiler for $$$$ is silly since the issues they had can happen with a new boiler that they spent $$$$$ on. Maybe they would be happier with forced air heating and its issues.

Not sure why it would have a lot of bad valves unless they aren't bad and the person servicing it doesn't know how to troubleshoot the actual problem and just keeps replacing valves.

Thank you for your post and patience, @AndyOpp .

As others commented, the components you mentioned are not specific to Energy Kinetics, although we look forward to working with you and your contractor to quickly resolve the problems noted.

I understand that you are now in touch with our territory manager for your area, John Hachmann, and I trust that we will get the details needed, including specific information about your installation and service history as well as your installing and servicing contractor(s).

As an update on this, John talked with @AndyOpp - sometimes we lose track of time.

I turns out that this is a (19) year old installation in a site that has water tests showing high iron, which could contribute to some issues with the circulator and valves over that timeline. It was installed by one contractor and is serviced by another. John said there was some confusion on the costs mentioned - there was no quote to replace a fan for an exorbitant price. Also, the noises apparently occurred 3 months after an annual tune up and were unrelated to the service work provided.

The servicing contractor and John are visiting the site at @AndyOpp 's first availability, which is a week from Tuesday.

We look forward to finding out more and helping @AndyOpp restore his system to quiet, reliable, and efficient operation.
