Installing Lynn 1032 "wet blanket"

Got a hole in the upper chamber refractory liner and purchased a bag of "wet blanket" Lynn 1032 material, as I once watched a "pro" install it. Seemed pretty easy but it was a long time ago and memory fades.

As I get ready, have some concerns about it "staying up" on the upper surface of the fire chamber. The bottom and end wall look fine so I was just going to replace the damaged upper half. Pretty sure from the parts diagrams, it's a clamshell (upper and lower half) design.

Experience, advice?

No. Burnham V8, typical oil fired chamber.

May have been easier to get the proper chamber kit with the prefab rear target wall.

My first shot. Sources say "no longer available". Last price was well over $200.

I may have eyeballed the wrong part in the diagrams, as, the back wall should be the same regardless of the sections involved. Must have been the bottom one, at that. That would be a slice of pie with this blanket. I just noticed it is "best before" with a 2023 date. Still wet though.

In any case, I "patched" the small hole, which was not in direct line of fire, so, we shall see. Hopefully it will not fall out or blow out.

Probably going to propane over the summer anyway.

Looking at things again, I find the complete kit IS available, for under $200. Back wall, bottom, door, door gasket, the whole magilla.

    Getting too old, I guess.
