My first time using a purge valve after reading Pumping Away

In this week's video, I discuss the first time I saw a purge valve setup and how it worked. I had read about the purge valve in Dan's Pumping Away and never had a chance to see one. Most of my clients were commercial or lite industrial. When I did, it worked like a charm. So much easier than trying to access painted over radiator vents behind furniture. Hope you enjoy it.

I also read pumping away.
Last week was my first solo boiler install. I used the pumping away method Dan outlined. I also installed 3 purge zones on the return above my zone valves. It took all of 5 minutes to purge the system at the end of the day.
Also, Webstone/Bluefin make combination vales that are basically prefabbed purge zones you can just propress in place. Super nice.

great summary. I literally had to do this yesterday. Internal Air vent on Burnham Alpine boiler went bad and I introduced air into system while replacing. My “purge valve” is on the flange valve for supply circulator (only one zone). It took awhile clear out air, but it worked. Much thanks.
