I don't know anything about Azel. Taco is decent quality, but I haven't heard anything bad about Azel.

Which boiler and boiler controller do you have ? Many of the boilers have the capacity to wire up two zones, using the boiler controller. Eliminating the need for a zone control.

  • That particular Azel control is for pumps. The specs. don't tell you how big the transformer is (20VA, 40VA, 80VA) and they don't give you a "C" terminal for power stealing thermostats or even transformer contacts.

But if you have regular thermostats, the Azel is fine.

First I've ever heard of Azel. Taco would be my choice.

Nothing wrong with the Azel. They're a little tighter than the Taco to get wires into, but they work just as well. If it were zone valves I'd stick with the Taco, but as a switching relay I've been using Azel almost exclusively since the 'Vid when Taco went unavailable. Did have one where the transformer started making noise after about 3 months but they warrantied it without any hassle, which is more than I can say for Taco.

There is a 'C' terminal, just one.

    High Capacity, whatever that means.

Taco has great tech support. They respond well on this forum as well.

first, I've heard of Azel. Taco controls are robust and have been recognized as a great product in the industry for many years. I worked as a tech support engineer for many years and have worked with many customers to facilitate installation. I can't tell you which one is better, because I'm not familiar with Azel, However,

I will say on record buying a product that is more common in the industry, and synonymous with quality is always the right choice. Go Taco!!

If you have any technical questions related to Taco zone controls, Taco tech support at 401-942-8000 is there to help. hopefully this was helpful

looks like the taco stuff is in something more like a junction box and the azel stuff is in something more like tupperware.
