Colleague found this in a hospital crawl space. Not sure of the connected load. Building has a mix of steam installs starting in the 1900’s to the present. I’ve never seen anything like it.

    My guess for the first photo is a check valve or a steam trap, although I'm not too confident.

    My guess for the second photo (from right to left) is a cast iron wye strainer, a pressure reducing valve and a check valve. Most likely on a high pressure steam line (although I guess it could be a oil line). Relatively confident on the components, not sure what the medium is.

    From right to left… the direction of flow———- Steam trap, wye strainer, pressure reducing valve and a swing check valve.

    why would the discharge of a trap be sent to a prv?

    High pressure —low pressure steam reducing station. Old one at that.
