hi- new Viessmann 100w - propane with DHW and OTR connected. I noticed this morning that the display went from showing the setpoint temp (seen in picture) to showing setpoint as a percentage (below)

For example, in the white box it showed setpoint 37%. Not sure if this was due to a change in the outdoor temp at the exact time I was watching it or something else. I can’t find anything regarding that in the manual. No hot water demand at the time

I know bits and pieces about the Viessmann. It seems normal. Maybe see if it changes when it makes hot water. I presume something was different when you saw it this morning. Maybe the burner was simply off at that moment.

The percentage you are seeing is the modulation output of the boiler—like it says on the display.

the percentage was actually in the white box (where it shows setpoint temp). Why would it show modulation there when it already shows boiler modulation at the bottom?

.Your answer should be in the manual. Admittedly, that's quite a read.

I’ve been reading it. Haven’t found it yet but will report back when/if I do.

If I had to wager a guess I would say you had a display glitch. I have not seen what you describe happen personally. If the system seems to be operating correctly I would leave well enough alone, if it happens again I might go through and make sure all the plugs are seated correctly (usually this would trigger an error though) if all the plugs are seated correctly including the plug in the seal cover which holds your display (viessmann calls that an HMI) I would call tech support and try to get the HMI replaced while the unit is still under warranty. The HMI pops right out and a new one pushes right back in, I believe the internal controls hold the programming on these models so it shouldn't be too difficult to replace if need be
