Suntec A2VA-7116 Fuel Pump

Hello Everyone,

Is anyone else experiencing a rash of failed Suntec fuel pumps??? In the past two months, our service techs have replaced 5 fuel pumps due to leaks and/or lack of pumping. I have technicians that have replaced 5 fuel pumps in their whole career.

Before anyone asks, yes in two pipe systems, we verify 100% that the outlet line is open. In this case of the 5 failed pumps, only one was on a two pipe system, the others have been on single pipe systems.

So, I was just seeing if anyone else is experiencing the same issue.

We're discussing on switching to the Beckett CleanCut PF20322.

Thank you all in advance.

Haven't replaced any fuel units in the past few years. Might be a fuel quality issue.

Don't forget, the CleanCut requires valve-on delay to work. This holds the oil back for 5-15 seconds after the motor and ignition come on, and cuts the oil off instantaneously at the end of the cycle, resulting in cleaner starts and stops. You can add this using either a "PD Timer" which is a cordset having a built-in delay, or by upgrading the primary control. The Beckett GeniSys, Carlin 60200 and Honeywell R7284 controls can all be reprogrammed to include valve-on delay, though with the Beckett you need the Contractor Tool to do it.

In what way are they failing? Like you mentioned, they are pretty robust generally. I think in my 35+ years at it I've replace maybe 5 or so.

I was going through them as well. Swithched to Danfoss BFPH and no problems.Think those are dicontinued.

Might be able to find them as a rebranded Wayne. The new Beckett pump is a Danfoss, look for made in Denmark.

Are the techs installing the bypass plug on a 2 pipe oil supply and removing the bypass plug on a one pipe supply. If this is not done it could be part of your problem.

Do not overreact. How old were the pumps? you had at least 2 different issues. Stuff happens. Suntechs are good, period. Fuel quality and tank cleanliness is often an issue.

I have had the same issue with the A2VA- 3006-B on two occasions. burner producing heavy soot and puffing when replacing the pump after all new filters and nozzles and a complete cleaning . the new pump not opening . replacing the new pump with a second new pump after going crazy trying to figure out what's going on. solenoid powered and magnetized. but the pump not pumping. second pump and all was good. having the same issue again today replacing a AV@-3006 with a Becket PF 20322U and the new pump not pumping but the solenoid getting power and magnetized. Both times within the last season. never had the problem before. I suspect its an issue with the port in the delay not opening. whether a defect in manufacturing or the piston getting stuck its a real pain .

I find a lot of oil pumps from the different manufacturers leaking from the pump seal. I rarely find any that fail to pump. I don't consider any of them better than the others.

Possible sticky pump stems. Have had to replace some of those. Much easier than replacing entire pump. Happens to Riellos a lot.
