Hvac, Hydronic system technician license, course and permit in NJ

Hello,
I am a 55-year-old Spanish-speaking man looking to pursue a course and obtain an HVAC and hydronic systems license in the state of New Jersey. Could you recommend an institution I should attend, or could someone guide me through the process of achieving this? Thank you!

NJ is still learning about HVAC License rules and regulations. They only started offering the HVAC license about 10 years ago.

There is an apprentice process that you need to go through to get the HVAC license, Just like Plumbers and Electricians.   There is nothing like just taking a test to get a license. There is no Hydronics license.  You can get a NJ State Home Improvement Contractors license with proof of insurance and filling out a form. That will get you the ability to pull permits for jobs that do not need an electrician or plumber. Installing a boiler or a furnace will fall into that category in many cases. You will need the electrician friend to get the electric hookup and perhaps the plumber friend to install the water feed to a boiler.  But Gas piping, oil tanks, ductwork, and Hydronics piping do not fall under the plumbing license and can be installed by anyone with a brain. The home improvement contractor license can get you that permit if one is required. You just need to have some plumber and electrician friends to get the other two forms sealed to apply for a permit.

As far as maintenance and repairs are concerned, you don't need permits to make repairs and therefore you do not need a license.  Having the Home Improvement license is a good start for now.

After you make that expensive repair and you still have the same problem, What will you check next?
