Mounting a #90 - 14 Gallon Expansion Tank

I received great advice from this forum about my radiant floor system, and one of the suggestions was to get an Amtrol #90 Tank. I purchased one and asked my plumber to install it. I thought we would use Unistrut and straps, but my plumber thinks it needs to be on a floor stand due to the weight. The room really does not have floor space; is there a way to safely mount this on a wall? If it needs to be on the floor, I did not see any floor stands made for this tank, I could probably custom make something, but would appreciate suggestions.

They make Expansion tank mounting brackets. Hold Rite is one name I think there are others. Supply House .com has some. Others will comment.

Maybe nicely encourage the plumber to read the manufacture's documentation.

I would ensure the pipes the EX-90 is attached to are adequately secured to the structure.

the sx30v is the floor mount version of a 14 gallon tank. it can hang from the fitting but you must support the pipe. if failed and water logged it could weigh 100#. under normal operation it would be under 50#.

you could also use this style mount:

that could be 60 lbs or more if it water logs

Some all thread with unistrut to support it would work

Plenty of tanks mounted horizontally, as the Amtrol book shows. Suspended it like you would a compression tank

14 gallons at 8#/gal is about 110# if it waterlogs. I don't know what the weight rating of a 1/2" pipe nipple is but the instructions seem to imply it can be supported by the nipple. I wouldn't do it in any position other than vertical with the nipple up.

Here is what Amtrol shows in their Engineering Handbook. I have seen tanks installed on their side like this for many years. No evidence that it shortens their lifespan?

The Extrol Pro, a lined tank, is available up to a #60
