just an interesting thing i never knew was in my home, i found an old Teesdale Automatic Oil Pump”

Home built in 1927

Converted to Natural Gas in the 1990s

This was found behind my water heater

I have found absolutely zero information on the company, the pump or anything related to it anywhere on the internet.

it seems to have a fuse of some sort on the side, with mercury in it as well

anyone have any information on this?

Wall pump , the set up was for a buried oil tank .. One pipe1/2" iron with a foot valve . The switch shut off the pump and would lock out if ran out of oil …

There was an error rendering this rich post.

Never herd of Teesdale. I agree it is a pump probably for an outside tank. It may have fed a burner that did not have a built-in pump like a gravity feed pot burner.

Hope that the outside tank has been removed.

Same application as the SH day tank/pumset. Had 2 mercury tube switches operated by a floats. 1 turned pump motor on and off to maintain oil level, the other cut power to the motor at higher level to prevent overflow. It worked very well and was much safer and more durable than today's day tank setups. There is one still operating in Greenwich, CT.
