Estimating new build yearly heating cost
trying to figure out an estimate on yearly heating costs for this new build. Plan is to install 1 ductless Minisplit 9,000 BTU. Then a ducted Minisplit 9,000 BTU as well. Total heating degree days in our area are 6,165. Also cost per KWH here is $0.125

Try the calc again on builditsolar.com and you can enter the design temp as well as the cost per unit of fuel, and it'll spit out a calculated estimate.

Your infiltartion loss seem on the high side, but not far off.
Here is the math.
6000HDD, I'm guessing design temp of 5F (so 60F delta T). your head load of 18k.
18k/60f= 300BTU/degF
300*6000HDD*24=432therms
432therms*29.3=12657kWh of heat
A heat pump would get you an average COP of around 3, so you need
12657/3=4219kWh or $527.
Cooling cost would probably be 1/3 to 1/4 of that.

@Kaos you nailed it. You can skip the therms piece and just use 3412 Btu per kWh.
