Switching Relays- Are they all equal ?

So in selecting a switching relay for use with circulator are they all equal? Or do some "perform " better than others?

I currently have a Taco but will be switching my boiler , topossibly a Navien, and I see Navien offers one hand I'm guessing there are a few others out there.

Thoughts?

We perfer the Taco and Tekmar products.

  • Caleffi gives you many wonderful options and landings for every wire. Controls lacking landings are tiresome.
One wish I have for Caleffi is that they make their knockouts a teeny bit larger. NBD because they are plastic and I just ream them open some.

    8.33 lbs./gal. x 60 min./hr. x 20°ΔT = 10,000 BTU's/hour

Two btu per sq ft for degree difference for a slab

A Unibit works to enlarge them, or if you want wires to enter thru the back use a Unibit to make an opening.

UL doesn't require that cardboard fiber divider between 120V and 24 V because we have the 120V terminal strip. Cleans up the look of the box a bit.

Thanks for the Caleffi support :)

what navien are you switching too and how many zones do you have?

The newer Naviens can handle 3 Zones without the need of an external switching relays wire the thermostats and circulators right to the unit itself
