Steam boiler started doing this.. normal?

my steam boiler started making weird sound and started doing this. I turned it off and back on a isnt doing this anymore. Should i be concerned?

    No it's not supposed to have flame in the burner tubes. The tubes need to be removed and cleaned. Also the orifices on the gas header should be cleaned as well.

    As is, there is a good possibility a fire could start. This is a potentially dangerous situation.

    If you're handy, you can do it yourself, but if you're not familiar with gas trains, you should call in a pro immediately.

    When did you last have your boiler serviced?

    i bought the house in may, no idea how the furnace was serviced, but i got it serviced and took care of the maintenance items in Aug by the local steam guys.

    sounds like i should call them back out.

    Unless you're going to watch it whenever you fire it with your hand on the kill switch, yes.
