Burnham ES2 Boiler Question

Ask continue to explore different CI NG boilers for my radiant floor system I came across the above Burnham model. The thing that intrigues me is they state " Allowable Supply Water Temperature 140-220f & Minimum Return Temperature 110f" .

This sounds very interesting to me! A question that comes to mind is if I have a Tekmar 3 Way mixing valve could my Return from my radiant manifold be lower? Thinking about the shoulder seasons.

Thanks!!

Now to bring in some stove wood as the temps are going down here in NE Ohio!

Yes you would use a mixing valve to adjust the temperature of the radiant supply temperature ….

There was an error rendering this rich post.

@Cyclist77 , the ES2 is a nice boiler. It's not a condensing boiler, which sidesteps a lot of the service problems we find with condensing units. We've installed several and they work well.

Wishful think that a VS bypass circ will protect the boiler when it is most needed, cold high mass systems return temperatures for example.

System returning 65° water, boiler running maybe 100°,

    if it is oversized :)

Connected to a large volume, high mass converted gravity system, or radiant slab.

How does the return magically get above 130°F?

What combination of 100 and 65 gets you 130 °?

What BTU boiler can take the 6,8 or so gpm return from 65 to 130 in a single pass? Sounds like a tankless heater? Do they start at 199,999 input?

May as well just power down the circulators, let the boiler catch up.

At least the kit is expensive :) Buyer beware. Hopefully the company has a history of boiler warranty experience:)

A simple piping correction makes it work 100% of the time.
