You’re probably shaking your head and giving me the side-eye from afar, and you may be spot on? I guess I’ll find out soon enough. 😊

When I think of a typewriter, I don’t think of students, teachers, or secretaries. I think of sports writers, those who write about music, Dennis Lehane, Frank McCourt, Malachy McCourt, Doris Kearns Goodwin, Elmore Leonard, and David Simon.

I also think about the wonderful writers in this industry who have taught me and so many others the right way to do things. Dan Holohan, the founder of this site and the guy who breathed life back into Hydronics. used a typewriter. I guarantee it.

John Siegenthenhaler, the author/engineer who gave Modern Hydronics Heating and three more successive editions to keeps up to date on the newest the latest technology and how to design hydronic systems without having an engineering degree. I can place a bet on this guy too

The current Owner & President of HeatingHelp.com., Erin Holohan. Where would we be without her carrying on the torch and stewardship. Erin may not have used one, but she and her sisters certainly heard the sound of one coming from her dad’s office.

The Family Rohr - Bob “Hot Rod” Rohr, Ellen Rohr, and Max Rohr. I’m shaking my head in disbelief how many of us who have been helped by their writing contributions. Probably not Max, but his parents did.

Ray Wohlfarth, Steve Smith, Dave Yates, Mark Eatherton, Harvey Ramer, Larry Weingarden, Cody Mack, and so many others who have spread the gift of information while punching keys. Ok, maybe Max, Cody, and Erin haven’t used a manual typewriter, but they’re still carrying on the tradition.

She’s a beauty, right? I believe it’s a 1930s Model a Royal Typewriter. It’s in mint condition, works flawlessly, and does not come with a case. I chucked it because it was only used for display in my office. Needs a new ribbon or ink as the letters come out light. Most prices on e-Bay are in the $400 range. I’m asking $225 plus shipping.

Erin, if you think this doesn’t fit, I won’t be offended at all if you delete it

Wow! @Steve Minnich, that's beautiful. We did have a typewriter in my dad's office. I remember using it for my school work. Thanks for bringing back a nice memory.

My dad had one like that for typing up prescription labels at his drug store way back in the day (the 60's). You brought a smile to my face.

    Thanks very much Steve.
