Superstore replacement?

We built a new house in ‘99-2000 so our baseboard system with a superstore is 25 years old. I am wondering about a few things.

  1. How long do superstores last?
  2. Is there any way to drain and flush a superstore?
  3. Is there an anode rod in a superstore?
  4. Replacement with same vs. a new process of making DHW (LP or electric instant DHW). Our water source is a well and water temp is constant 54 degs.
    All thoughts appreciated.

    water quality, hardness, TDS, chlorides

    Water temperature

    amount of water you use

    Luck

These are contributing factors to tank life

You have had a very good run with that tank

Any thoughts on instant hot water? Why about decentralized DHW….Mini instant heaters at each point of use.

So many DHW options. So many opinions.

You need to choose the option that best serves your needs. Gas, electric, HPWH, tankless, tank type. $$ budget?

Start with an accurate number of how much DHW you need. Do you want it all at once at a high flow, 8- 10 gpm, filling a large soaking tub for example?

Your incoming constant 54° is a big help. Most tankless and combis are rated for a 77° temperature lift. You need 66° to get 120° supply.

Mini heaters under remote sinks are an option to lessen the wait time for a tankless or combi. How far away is the distant fixture?

I stayed in a VRBO recently. Combi was on the 3rd floor a long distance from the kitchen. A small mini electric was under the kitchen sink. A 2 second count to get super hot water at the faucet. It was a nice feature, actually.
