Wall heater not igniting
1986 cozy sunair gravity vented wall furnace pilot stays lit but doesn't ignite even with thermostat all the way up. I have replaced the thermopile and made sure all connections were tight and then changed thermostat as well still no luck. Watched a YouTube saying to turn power off for 3-10 minutes to reset ....any other ideas

One of the screws is stripped in place 🫤 I was able to disconnect from the gas valve side and got one screw out but not able to get the other to budge

Currently waiting to see if it kicks on

Was able to use a 7/16 to remove propane line from both sides and cleared line and pilot light orifice on top that I wasn't able to remove then reassembled and followed lighting instructions 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Gas is set to on, pilot flame now reaches the thermopile and thermostat is set at 80 but hasn't ignited the furnace

Hello jamie530,
Well the flame looks a lot better now. Without a multimeter to measure the thermopile voltage and voltages to the gas valve and other limit switches (if any), troubleshooting is just kind of guessing. However…
The thing is, the thermopile (even with the former poor pilot performance) was holding the pilot gas valve before. So I suspect the problem was (and now is) not the thermopile and/or the pilot. Although the pilot did need servicing for best performance.
If you place a jumper wire (Yellow arrow) and the burner starts the problem is probably not the Pilot, Thermopile or the gas valve. If the burner starts with the Yellow jumper wire, then the problem is probably with the equipment connected to the other end of the Black and White wire or the wire itself. I'm guessing the only thing at the other end of the Black and White wire is the thermostat, there may be some safety limit switches.
If the Yellow jumper works at the gas valve then try it at the thermostat or touch the Black and White wire together at the other end (maybe at the thermostat).
Another thing, you stated you replaced the thermostat, is the new thermostat rated for Millivolt type systems ? If not you may have added more issues while solving others. Try the old thermostat.

The box is the brand new one just put up it says it is rated for use with a 750 millivolt heating system and the dingy one is the old one I'm going to go find a wire and see if I can jump at the gas valve

Jump wire worked it ignited the wall furnace but as soon as I would remove the wire it would go back off I have not checked the thermostat yet will do that next but going to get the millivolt reader to be able to check that as well.....

I put the old thermostat on and it worked and then just came back and saw the answer stating about the cardboard piece so I touched around the components and low and behold that is cardboard that I thought was plastic thank everybody so much it was a very cold night last night and I'm very happy to say we will not be cold tonight everything is running perfectly
