Single valve radiator change

Hi, I have an old radiator in my house that I'm looking to replace, but it has an unusual single sided valve design. The rest of the radiators in the house are standard apart from this one. If I was to convert this to a normal style radiator would it just be a case of extending the one pipe to the other side or is it likely to be more complicated than that?

    Hello Kosack1,

Why do you want to replace it ? Sometimes it is better to leave sleeping dogs lie.

Largely aesthetics, it's been painted in the past and I've tried to strip it back but it's not really working. Also had the boiler serviced recently and the plumber picked it out as being so old and worth replacing. It does put out heat, but I'm guessing a newer, more modern radiator will provide better warmth too.

Are you in europe somewhere? Changing it would only be fore aesthetics, as long as the valve still functions and it was sized properly when it was installed there would be no functional benefit to replacing it unless there is so much paint on it that the airflow through it is blocked.

That is a special valve with either a lance or a scoop on it that allows it to circulate supply and return water through the radiator from a single tapping. It could be replaced with a radiator with the supply and return connected to separate tapings.

for more heat there are vent options to increase output .
