Hi end wall vent boilers
Every few weeks week or so I run into high end CI boilers (triple pass/Riello) installations that are vented through a wall with just an exterior vent (no power vent). Usually the smoke pipe is an insulated flexible pipe with a very short uninsulated section at the boiler outlet. Often enough, there is no draft regulator. Are these legit installations? why is there no draft regulator ? how is draft set? is it set in combination with Ex Air?
It looks like **** to me but I'm the first to admit, I have lots to learn.

You would have to read the venting instructions for that boiler.

These boilers are direct vent, as opposed to power vent. The concentric vent with combustion air being drawn from the outer perimeter cools the exhaust on the inner perimeter. The exhaust in change warms the combustion air. There is no draft regulator on the exhaust, but there should be one (barometric relief) on the combustion air pipe. I know the 40 Series Riello (F3,F5) has the cutout in the cover for a 4 inch pipe kit for combustion air, but I’ve only used the BF for sealed combustion.
As far as draft, if it was installed correctly, because there's no chimney draft, over fire should be the normal 0 to +.02. Some boilers have baffles that can be adjusted or removed.

This one just had the insulated exhaust, intake air came from the space. The burner actually had the flange on it where apparently there was a ducted intake at some point. Or there was supposed to be one and it was never installed correctly
