moving the wiring box from the taco 007 pump??

I have a friend who has a taco 007 in an extremely tight spot, no space on either side, crushing the electric hook up box on the taco. Feeding a hot water loop off a steam boiler and was forced to install it upside down, flow now going into boiler instead of away.

Getting terrible water hammer.

In order to flip it over in the right position, the electric hook up box has to be removed.

Is there a kit that allows you to mount the electric connections somewhere else? Ive seen an electric plug in kit..

its that bad, no space.. any ideas?

    Hello skimmer,

Maybe remove the 4 screws and re-clock the whole motor assembly.

    Just spin the whole assembly?

Yes, spin the whole motor assembly 180 degrees so the pump pumps in the correct direction for the system and the electrical box is out of the way. However I have not tried it with a 007, maybe there is an indexing that prevents it. It works with other equipment if done correctly.

with the water drained down out of the pump

But flip the entire pump first if it is flowing the wrong direction ?

Release the pressure of the system, and rotate to motor assembly.

No what I mean is that the electric box stays on the right hand side as the photo shows above which is upside down.. can you leave it like that and remove the 4 bolts and turn it upside down so you reverse the flow but the pump install remains in the same position?

Confused, what's the difference ? The thing that matters is the water is flowing in the correct direction for the system, which is the pump casting orientation to the system. The placement of the electrical box does not determine the water flow direction.

If you remove the 4 screws that secure the motor housing to the pump casting and rotate one (the motor or the casting, pick just one) 180 degrees. The electrical box does not care what direction the circulator is moving the water.

The pump casting has to be in the correct position to flow the water in the correct direction for the system.

In the picture above of the two circulators, I bet the water is flowing in the same direction but the electrical box is orientated on the opposite side of one motor housings. Probably because they rotated it 180 degrees.
