Issue with radiators
hello!
I am having an issue with the heating in my house. We have oil heat, and our upstairs forced air works. However, we have radiators downstairs and a thermostat down there that we have the heat set to a high temperature but nothing comes out of the radiators. The weird thing is, is that once in a while there will be some heat coming up at random times but the thermostat I have is non programmable. So I have no idea why it would be coming up intermittently. Now that it’s colder out the past week it hasn’t been coming up at all.
I tried changing the batteries in the thermostat and I also switched it out from another one I had in the house that was the same exact one. Any ideas what this could be?
Thank you

Do you have a steam or hot water system? If hot water, check the pressure; it should be around 12psi.
Is there any noise coming from the boiler when you turn the thermostat on?Yes, it could be just that the thermostat isn’t working
Some pictures of your system will help.

Well there could be any one or more of a number of problems. If I had to guess with no evidence at all I'd guess there is air in the radiators and piping. But really we all need more information. Can you post some pictures of the system and it's piping? try to get as much of the system as you can in the picture.
