Possible stuck guage on Roth tank
Hi everyone-
I think the guage on my Roth oil tank may be stuck. It has been a month since we filled the tank to around 3/4s full, and the guage hasn't moved since (see picture). We likely used ~20 to 30 gallons since the fill up.
Is there a quick way to reset the guage? what tools would I need and is it something a homeowner can complete? I couldn't find anything on youtube to help me and I wanted to check here before I try to troubleshoot.
Thank you in advance.

Unscrew the big black nut around the gauge and lift slowly. Rest the assembly on the tank and pull on the string. At the end of the string should be the float. If the float isn't hung up on the oil line, it's probably a bad gauge. Hold the gauge in its normal position and easily work the string up and down a few inches and see if the indicator responds. Rags and gloves are good to have.

I just spoke to my wife on this topic and reviewed the last oil receipt from a month ago.
When the oil was last delivered, I ordered 150 gallons and the oil company only delivered 139 gallons. My wife told me the oil delivery guy said the whistle stopped (ie tank was full) so he stopped pumping. After the fill up, the guage read a little less than 3/4s full (pictured amount).
So I am guessing I may have close to a full tank, despite the guage being stuck at 3/4s.
I still want to try to unstick/reset the guage if possible (looking for direction of "how to" and whether a homeowner should attempt), but wanted to share the above info with the group as well.

HVACNUT!
Thank you for the help. I followed your instructions and the guage now reads a little less than 7/8s full (see picture), which makes more sense given what happened at my last delivery (tank whistle stopped), what is actually in the tank and there has been a month of oil use.
I will monitor the guage to make sure it moves over the next few weeks.
Thank you again.
