Wireless thermostat to Sr502

I apologize ahead of time for my lack of knowledge. It was recommended to me that I could use 2 VisionPro 8000 thermostats connected through a RedLINK EIM to control a SR 502-4

2 Zone radiant floor. I was told to use the U terminals. 1 thermostat for each zone.

I can’t for the life of me find a wiring diagram or video that gives clear understanding how to wire.

Your help would be greatly appreciated!!

    Hello gcrabtree,

I believe each VisionPro 8000 thermostat is associated with U1 or U2 output contacts in the RedLINK EIM configuration software.

Basically the U output terminals U1, U2 are isolated contacts (like a thermostat) they connect to the zone inputs on the SR 502-4. I used Yellow in the picture to represent the White wire, typically Red and White wires are use for this interconnect purpose, although the color really does not matter, just makes things more consistent. one 4 conductor cable could be used.

Basically you are connecting like this, in this case the Powered Ventilator is actually the SR 502-4 and you are also connecting U2 also.

    Thanks for replying 109A_5

That is what I had hoped the wiring would look like.

I was afraid to let the smoke out of one of the boxes.

Is there any concern for the transformers powering each box?

Will they work together like this?

    Thanks Again

Since you used a separate 24 VAC transformer to power the EIM using the U1 and U2 relay contacts is probably the simplest and safest way to hook it up. I believe the contacts of the relays for U1 and U2 have no other electrical connection to anything else inside the EMI unit, so effectively it's like a thermostat with just a R and W wires connected.

If you used any of the other (non 'U') output contacts you may have to remove the jumper at drawing (above) reference number '3'.

I believe there may be multiple ways to make it work for your application, using a separate 24 VAC transformer to power the EIM and U1 and U2 as outputs may be the simplest way (as long as there is no roadblock with the configuration software). Since the relays for U1 and U2 provide isolation each box simply runs off its own power source and there is no power supply interaction between the two units.

You probably could have ran the EIM from the 24 VAC in the SR 502-4 but having two transformers separated the load so the SR 502-4 transformer will run cooler which is better.

    Thanks for all the input.
    Wired this morning.
System is up and running as it should be.
    Thanks also to heatinghelp.com
Found the complete instructions for the 8000 thermostat on the website. 144 pages not just the 40 or so that come with the stat.
