Honeywell gas valve spark ignition problem

Crown Aruba AWR 38. Error 4 occurs after gas valve is open for five minutes or so, with 24 V to the PV and also the MV. my milliamp on the control board will start to drop down from 15 mA and linger around four or 5 mA until it goes further down to shut the gas valve. Then it goes into a restart and the process continues. ending with an error code 63 soft lockout. The pilot assembly with flame sensor spark igniter has been replaced. inlet gas pressure is 7 inches water column and downstream pressure is 3 inches water column. Burner flame tubes fire is not drop down as the pilot flame diminishes.

It is as if the pilot solenoid is closing on its own while 24 V remains at the gas terminal. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

    Hello joebark,

    Sounds like you went through the list below. I'm not clear on one point in your description;

    " my milliamp on the control board will start to drop down from 15 mA and linger around four or 5 mA until it goes further down to shut the gas valve."

    " Burner flame tubes fire is not drop down as the pilot flame diminishes. "

    While you see the current diminishing from 15 microamps to less than 4 or 5 microamps is the pilot flame diminishing during that time span too ? Or does the pilot flame go from normal to extinguished almost instantly.

    If the pilot flame diminishes as the current drops, I would probably want to monitor the gas pressure in the pilot tubing circuit to get a better understanding of what is actually happening. A special adapter may have to be fabricated if there is no test port for the pilot on the gas valve.

    Thanks for the reply. Yes as the mA starts to drop the pilot flame size is also dropping. Flame at the burner tubes are still perfect. I believe the controller is reading the pilot flame accurately. I'm wondering if anyone has seen the pv solenoid slowly close while 25v is present?

    Down stream gas pressure should be 3.5 in wc may at least help, I would raise it and re test.
