TACO display not on

Hi. I’m new to this forum as well as the TACO radiant system. I recently moved into a home with the setup. There is nothing in the display window. The system is working when switched on with the manual switch on the circuit board. We had a power surge last summer that fried other parts of the system, but didn’t realize that the TACO wasn’t functioning. My partner can’t recall ever seeing the display on in the 13 years she’s had the system. That of course didn’t make sense, so we readyplaced the bad slow blow, fuse but still have nothing in the display window. We were hoping that was the problem, but no luck. Is there a reset function? Sorry, I’m a Luddite when it comes to electronics. The guy that installed the system has apparently moved on to some other field.

That's unfortunate. The display isn't very bright so it is very easy to not notice it. However, the display is also the brains behind the device.

There is no reset button, the fuse is designed to help protect, but it sounds like you had major surge that affected other things in the house as well.

You can however get a replacement controller, the part number is 193-004RP. It is called the Radiant Mixing Block Control Panel.

When you move the switch to Manual, this makes both circulators run full speed, it will "work" but it will send elevated water temperature to your radiant floors. It is designed to check an installation and for a quick, temporary override like this.

    I hope this helps

like dave said, manual switch overrides the control and enables both circulators with no control to stop them when thermostat is satisfied. It’s a good diagnostic tool to rule out the pumps as the issue, and in this case it looks like control will need to be replaced.

Contact your local dealers for price and availability. If you don’t know your local wholesaler, contact Taco at (401) 942-8000 and ask for tech support.
