Riello Burner Series 40 F3 burner flame goes out

I have an F3 issue as well which is what brought me here. I have a relatively old but functional forced air furnace. There's plenty of oil in the tank and at the pump. The burner ignites but flame goes out quickly. I noticed that with the bleeder open to check for air it does not shoot out when the pump kicks in. That makes me think the pump is weak. Any thoughts?

Did it run out of fuel? The Riello is a tricky one to bleed because you need to get the flame sensor faked out so it keeps the fuel solenoid open to do a properly. It can be done with a flashlight, but requires good timing to pull off.
Is the tank higher than the burner, and if so, can you open the fuel line at the burner to see if you have gravity flow?
The other thing to check is the fuel pump coupler on those. You would need to pull the fuel pump off and check the spline on it to verify it hasn't stripped out.
One other thing; If it is a direct vent burner and uses a concentric vent, it sometimes can pull in exhaust gases, which will make the flame shut off very fast. If that is the case, check the outside termination and make sure it isn't blocked, or have any wind blowing back in to it.

I am assuming the oil level is below the pump ? …Leak at a fitting or a bad air shutter piston …. My thoughts
