Hi I have a question,

While doing just normal servicing, I am coming across few boilers that has no draft regulator from whoever originally installed them. They seem to be there for a few years. Should I tell the customer it needs draft regulator or just serviced it and let it remain the way it is?

Check the installation instructions for the boiler. Some boilers like those from Energy Kinetics don't require a draft regulator but the majority of them do.

@efarrenovate Do the tune-up service to the boiler and check the owner's manual. (Usually found in the rafters near the boiler) and see what it says there to verify your thoughts.

Depends on the boiler. Natural draft gas boiler do not use barometric dampers they have a draft hood.

I assume you are speaking of Oil Burner Tune-Ups. If you can not locate the IO Manual in the rafters, you may be able to locate them on the internet. Do you carry a tablet with internet access with you on service and maintenance calls? You should. You should always have access to the manual of any piece of equipment you work on.

After you make that expensive repair and you still have the same problem, What will you check next?
