Hbx Hydrobloc issues

I have a HBX Hydrobloc HYD-0100
It’s about 12 years old. It looks like the internal temperature sensor is not reading the correct temperature. In fact it seems to read 30F lower than the true temperature. This causes the mixing valve to be wide open all the time. It controls the heated floor in my kitchen. It gets quite warm.
is this a normal failure mode or is it possible that it has an air bubble in the mixing block?
It has a purge vale on top of the unit but I can’t figure out how it works. I have done a forced water purge of the system.
The HBX agent in New England thinks I need to replace the unit.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
