Separate Ceiling Panel Radiators
2 independent radiator panels joined together by what appears to be threaded couplings.
How are they joined and can they be separated to put in a replacement panel?

Reverse thread nipples , in theory that was the idea 100 years ago :)

I suspected that. If I understand correctly you would keep alternating back and forth on each coupler nut until they separate.
How successful has this been after many decades of togetherness?

One end is reverse NPT thread. Reverse tap in the radiator . Imagine trying to start the threads on two nipples with the weight, just thinking ….

The ones with the flats are counter threaded as said above, as I see no draw bolts, it's probably the same on the other side, except internal.
As to getting them apart, first you'd have to drop the whole thing and try unscrewing them. Most likely they'll need to be sawn out.
I'd seriously consider finding a full replacement.

Your not going to break it loose , you need to cut it out …. But first , find new nipples …

Are the ceiling mounted radiators leaking or have some other problem? Is the copper fin section a replacement heating element?
