loud diverter

have a 1 year old viesmann vitodens 100 w gas condensing boiler with seperate hot water tank. Boiler works great but i notice that when diverter switches from hot water to heat there is a rather pronounced valve noise, not grinding but rather a low groaning noise. Can anyone out there tell me if this is normal operation noise or should i be hearing anything at all when diverter switches modes?

The low groaning sound should be normal. Though this is the 3rd time I've heard this on this forum, I have a few hundred of them out (including in my house) and never heard a complaint. You really shouldn't be able to hear it unless you are right next to the boiler, or you have the cover off. It's possible if the boiler is mounted to an inside wall the vibration may travel more. Where is the boiler mounted?

boiler is mounted on plywood attached to cement wall in basement directly under a bedroom . boiler itself is basically noiseless . only when switching heating modes do you hear anything.
