Need GPH input for an old HB Mills Boiler

Does anyone know the GPH of this HB Mills Boiler? There is no serial or model number, but I do have these photos.

    The nameplate shows the minimum relief valve capacity in pounds of steam per hour, depending on how many sections the boiler has. The firing rate can be calculated from that.

    So how many sections does it have? Open the fire door with the burner off and look inside. Front, rear, and however many are in between. Take pictures if you can.

    Also, look around for service tags that may show the nozzle size that was installed. They might be hanging on the boiler, the ceiling joists or elsewhere nearby.

    Are you asking what maximum GPH input the boiler is rated for, or what the actual GPH input is in its present configuration? The latter depends on (1) the installed nozzle size and (2) the pressure that the oil pump is now set at. The nozzle size and the pump pressure are not knowable from external observation. A tech would need to take the burner out to find what nozzle size is installed, and he would also need to check the pump and find what pressure it's set to. Then you'd use a lookup table to find the GPH of that nozzle size at the given pressure.

    In a perfect world, those two bits of info would be written on the most recent service tag and attached to your boiler, but evidently we don't live in a perfect world…

    Those older boilers always ran the pump at 100psi. Looks like a 3 or 4 section. I would put a 1.00gph nozzle in it and see how it does.

    What nozzle is in it now?

    That boiler was not sold with the burner that is on it now. That is a rebranded Beckett AF.

    So no specs will help much. Use a 70 or 80 degree hollow or solid nozzle and combustion test it to see what gives the best results. You need an oil burner tech to do that.
