Gas w/heater bad component symptom?

We have an approx 20 year old gas heater that I've been maintaining since we bought the place 3 years ago (flush/fill and new anode rod).

Today it wouldn't fire up until I flipped the power off and on. Green led is steadily blinking bright-dim.

Seems to be working OK now but is this an indication of a component on it's way out? If so, which could be the culprits?

Or, am I overthinking this and they just need to be rebooted once in a while or should I be grabbing a new one?

Thanks

Hi, It looks like a power vent unit. Things also look a bit dusty. I would start by checking/cleaning every electrical connection and see if it helps. Use contact cleaner in any switches. If there is no change, I see AO Smith's helpline to call. The tank looks nicely installed. I would do one more thing and add a line from the relief valve down to near the floor. 🤠

Thanks. That's what I was hoping. Will start with that, maybe even remove and clean/descale the thermostat

Hi, With a lot of water thru put and really hard water, I've seen the thermostat probe get buried in sediment. That really throws things off, but it's quite rare. 🦄

I haven't flushed the tank this year so I'll give it a good flush and clean as well
