Do you recognize this burner?

Ben reached out to us on Instagram saying, "In 2022 I stumbled upon this relic, sealed off behind a wall in the basement of the Lippitt House in East Providence, Rhode Island. I was taking a historic preservation class and the basement of the house was one of the sites we visited. While I recognize the boiler, I didn’t recognize the burner - ring any bells? The system was abandoned in 1986 when the mansion was divided into apartments, and hot air furnaces were installed in each unit." The house was built in 1865.

Does anyone recognize the burner? See the photos below. Thanks!

It looks like something someone has posted here before. It is old but not super old.

GH. There was a corporation called General Heat Distributors established in Connecticut in 1965, now dissolved. Their name was on a small oil fired steam boiler in my mother's house in New Jersey in the 1980s; it was a standard pin boiler, probably rebadged from one of the major manufacturers.

But that burner looks like an older style.

Looks like a Shellpack conversion on a boat anchor :) I lugged out a few in my day ….

There was an error rendering this rich post.

There was also a "General Heating Products Co." in Philly. That company had some connection to REPCO. Info from Byrley's "Hydronic Rating Handbook".

It says it right there. A little water on a rag will solve this mystery.
