Alta 120 settings

We put in one zone, has 3 loops, of staple up radiant heat running with the aluminum strip to spread the heat. We have plans to add two more zones, but wanted to tie it all in and test it before moving on to the next zone.

My question is about the settings on the Alta-120 boiler. We have it set to 120° on CH1 & CH2, and we aren't using it for DWH at this time but have a 110° set there as it seemed to want something. The boiler comes on and starts heating fast and zips up to about 145 and then backs off fast enough to get a H01 error code.

I am not sure what setting we have wrong that is doing this. Any ideas on troubleshooting this one??

Thanks

Show us how it's piped. If it's not primary/secondary with appropriately sized circulators, that's your problem. If it is P/S with appropriately sized circs, it's either low on pressure or airlocked. WHat is the system pressure and how did you purge the radiant loops?

If it's a water tube coil type heat exchanger, which I believe that model is, then you almost certainly need to purge the air out of the heat exchanger. Like @GroundUp said let's see how it is piped as well

I would imagine it is air. Don't forget to pipe the condensate somewhere, once you get the air out and the boiler starts running it will be pouring condensate out. There is also a detailed code in the history menu b that will specify a more precise reason for the fault

We will give that another round to see if we can bleed off more air. We have a plan for the condensate drain, just hadn't gotten there yet. Wanted to test everything before it gets super cold up here!!

Thank you for the suggestions, we will also check that history log to be sure there isn't something else to work on. So you think the settings might be fine? Still just air?

The error implies an issue related to the system and not settings in my opinion. The boiler overshooting the target temperature very quickly implies a lack of heat transfer, probably due to lack of flow cause by air in the heat exchanger.

PLEASE stop what you are doing and call a professional before somebody gets hurt. Wrong tubing, wrong gas piping, wrong venting, and for heaven's sake you have the relief valve upside down. No amount of "bleeding" will remove the air- it needs to be PURGED.
