Do Boiler Feed Water Backcheck and Feed Water Valve Need to be Installed Horizontally?
Hi, all.
I've had a new high efficiency boiler installed for CH and IWD.
However I've noticed that the BFP (Watts 9DM3) and Watts feed water valve are installed vertically (input at the top, output at the bottom). The documentation from Watts for these devices has them horizontal and some wording that they should be installed as shown. The installer guide for the boiler also shows them horizontal in their example layout. When I search for glamour pix of these setups online, I also keep finding the 9DM3 installed horizontally).
I'm curious if the fact that the check valve flapper would have to work against gravity to close makes the vertical install inferior or not. Does anyone know if Watts or code require this to be installed horizontally?
There is also no drain line on the vent, it's just venting to open air about 5 feet off the floor.
Thanks,

Looking at the install instructions it says it may be installed horizontally or vertically.

Thanks, I missed that extra bit in the installer guide.
