One of the most common questions I get asked in my classes is how much pressure should be on the hydronic boiler. So this video explains how to determine how much pressure is required. I hope you enjoy it.

Nice video Ray, I like the part about mechanics believing that the Circulator Pump pushes the water up to the empty radiators. I just reviewed that concept with a new member of HeatingHelp.com. It took several diagrams and comments to get him to realize that the system must be full of water all the way to the top radiator for it to work properly. I wish I had this video three weeks ago.

After you make that expensive repair and you still have the same problem, What will you check next?

4-5 psi at the highest point in the system static with the pumps off. That is if your pumping away from the ex tank. If pumping toward the ex tank and the system had a high head loss you could have a vacuum at the top of the system….seen that many times.

I'd also add the leaking indirect coil or tankless coil to the pressure creeping up without heating.
