I am superstitious about some things inside a boiler room These are the two things a service tech should never do inside a boiler room on a Friday. Hope you enjoy it.

"Fools rush in where wise men fear to tread" comes to mind!

Unfortunately it seems we all have to learn this lesson the hard way.

Reminds me of an ill-fated late afternoon seal replacement that involved a few broken bolts and a stuck bronze shaft sleeve. It was in a creepy old vacant plaza space that used to be a K-Mart. There wasn't much of a leak when I arrived and the boiler and pump were off. It took me a long time to locate and diagnose a failed relay associated with the Novar controls. Once the call for pump operation was restored and the pump started running, the pump seal was leaking really bad. I was there late into the night. My boss was a really nice guy and showed up to help bail me out. I don't remember why I thought it was so critical that I got heat restored in a vacant plaza space— guessing it must have been below freezing and we were worried about bursting pipes.

Hi @RayWohlfarth , I can relate. I've learned to NEVER touch a relief valve unless I have a replacement with me. 😈
