data loggers
This is something i brought up a number of years ago. There is a crusade to remove the ivy on the exterior walls of out brick building here on campus. I've learned with the help of this forum that there are benefits to ivy on the masonry walls and not many down sides. What I would like to do is record surface temperatures over a number of days through out the summer and actually record the shading and cooling effects ivy might have. The cost of loggers has come down significantly over the years. does anyone have experience using these in this way? I see a number if types, mostly used for cold chain security.

Hi, My knowledge on this is aged a bit, but Hobo, was a good, versatile brand. You don't need second by second data, so the storage capability of what you use doesn't need to be big.

Thank you Larry. I'll look into these. It looks like there are some many options these days I'll looking for the least expensive option I can find. This will ideally be a student operated project with the alternative motive being preserving the ivy on our building if the results are as I expect them to be.
