Looks to modify old schedule 40 pipe hydronics lines with full port shutoffs / drains. I’ve use Viega Mega press on other jobs and find it provides robust connections. I am curious how well the standard carbon steel holds up to corrosion in hydronic heating system over decades of use given the relatively thin wall of the coupler relative to the Schedule 40 pipe. Pretty sure it will last longer than me regardless. 😎Stainless steel 316 couplers are available so that is an option.
The existing pipe is in very good condition and will cut out 12” sections in accessible locations to install the valves using no stop MegaPress Coupling.
