Baxi issues

Hi Folks.

I have a customer w/ a Baxi 310Fi

older power vented combi that is in ok shape.

A leak has developed on the diaphragm switch. This is used to ramp up between heat and hot water... the pin that is activated w/ a micro switch is leaking around the nut and the sides.

I have looked at 2 different places and they have the part as no longer available. I even looked at a Fb marketplace unit but that had the same issue.

Any other options other than from italy/ via ebay?

Can this be pulled apart and repaired?

Anyone done that before?

part is 5629950

Thank you.

  • If you have water coming out of the pin, then the diaphragm has a hole in it. Replace the diaphragm as the pin is on the dry side.

    8.33 lbs./gal. x 60 min./hr. x 20°ΔT = 10,000 BTU's/hour

Two btu per sq ft for degree difference for a slab

    Thanks All.

Yes Blodgett in Concord was able to order it in for me. Thanks.

In this case it was a little more than just the diaphragm.

I replaced just that and it still leaked. Luckily I had the whole valve to make the fix.

On the whole its a neat little unit.

    Kcopp,

I rarely say one boiler is better than the other, it's like having the conversation about who was the greatest sports person through the years, it's silly to compare. But I will say I have quite a few Baxi's out there and man they have been great. When they finally do have an issue though they can be a nightmare to fix. I say that to say, I get why you put a little money into that old girl, but it may be a good thing.

    Tom.

I was the 3rd contractor through. the 2 previous said swap it out…go new.

I generally dont like doing that unless I really see something. I think there were much happier not having to shell out the cash.

    Hi Again folks…

    More Baxi questions… 310fi Combi

Same boiler. Apparently, each time the heat comes on there is a thumping noise. Sometimes hard sometimes soft.

Does not do it when making hot water.

    thoughts?

Are you using an external expansion tank along with the pancake internally?

Man, it's been so long since I have touched one of those. Is it a mechanical bang or a combustion bang?

Can you pipe a new tank in where the internal pancake is installed? even if you have to route piping out of the cabinet?
