Pex B to tankless gas water heater

I am installing a Rinnai gas tankless water heater.

My question is, should I run 18” of copper ( hot and cold ) from the unit then connect to pex? Not a good idea to run pex directly to the unit itself?

You want to come off the unit with hard pipe , secure the pipe to the building before Pex ..

There was an error rendering this rich post.

A tankless valve kit is a good idea, as it will need occasional flushing

Unless the installation manual tell you otherwise, I think you could pex to the valves

Hi, In some areas inspectors don't want any plastic pipe within a foot of the heater. I'd use stainless flex connectors from the heater and switch over to PEX from there. Or, find out how rules are enforced locally.
