KitchenAid refrigerator - Force defrost mode?
I have a 12 year old KitchenAid "French door" refrigerator with the pictured control panel.
Does anyone know the button sequence to press to force the refrigerator into defrost mode?
I haven't been able to find this answer online anywhere.
Thanks is advance!

Why do you want to force defrost? The operation is typically tied to a timer and temp sensor (“Bimetal Defrost Thermostat”). In my experience, if defrost isn’t working the temp sensor is bad.

Unplug it and open the doors. Why do you need a forced defrost?

there should be a little service information sheet tucked in to the chassis somewhere. i think it is in the back of the kick plate on whirlpools. if it isn't defrosting there is likely a bad solder joint/defrost relay or defrost heater or thermostat. if you find the electronic timer checking the heater with an ohmmeter should be easy.
