Forced air on first floor, mini splits on 2nd floor?
A house I'm considering buying (cape style, 2,000 sq ft) has forced air on the first floor, and mini splits in each room on the 2nd floor. Seems strange to have both systems in one house, and I'm concerned with the upkeep & expense of 2 systems instead of one. Is this an unusual set up? Will it be more expensive to run 2 systems?

Is this the same house you already posted about?

It's not entirely unusual. All systems require upkeep , the biggest expense in having 2 systems is the cost of installing 2 systems. If that part was already done I wouldn't worry about the upkeep too much. The cost to run will be roughly the same as a single system, but now you don't rely on a single piece of equipment to heat the whole house, so if something breaks you still have a partially heated house
