MRVC
The other day I performed an inspection on a hot water heating boiler. It was a Peerless cast iron boiler from 1966 with a 30 psi safety valve rated at 550,000 BTU/HR. The manufacturer's data plate was missing so there was no data on the boiler. I'm searching for an empirical equation to determine the MRVC value. I've been told that there is an empirical formula where you multiply the area of the cast iron sections by 7 or 8 and then do some more math to estimate the MRVC. I'm guessing that Hartford developed the formula since my supervisor mentioned that it exists and he use to work for them. The Section IV code refers to using the maximum BTU input from the fuel but that data was missing also. Do you know of this technique?

No. I would send Peerless a picture maybe they can hep you out.
