Hello, does anyone have any literature on this valve ? characteristics (i.e: standard open, step open, slow open), adjustments, etc. The company which bought the Essex division that produced the valve does not have anything since it is a discontinued item. Thanks in advance

@TDB, A quick question, how old is the heating appliance that you are attempting to repair? Is it worth it?

I believe that valve is a standing pilot gas valve and a Honeywell (now Resideo) standing pilot valve should work just fine. What are the terminal designations? TH. PP. TH/PP indicates a millivolt valve. TH. TR. TH/TR would indicate a 24 VAC valve.

The Resideo cross reference chart says this is the replacement valve

After you make that expensive repair and you still have the same problem, What will you check next?

I believe the valve was discontinued because that company division was sold. The appliance is old, the s/n suggest it was made in 1983 so I plan to get a whole new system, just trying to get by until the summer. I think I will go with a Robertshaw 720-400 which crosses over by Robertshaw and is similar to the Honeywell valve. both the Honeywell and the Robertshaw valves are standard opening just don't have confirmation that the original essex valve is a step-opening unit.
