Sensor on timer

I help maintain a hundred church with seventy five boilers single pipe steam system.

We have a 6 zone Thermostat system. We disabled one sensor in a very cold area, the gym, As the rest of the building was warm enough. The sanctuary is 5 degrees below the other areas of the building. Question can I place the connection to the sanctuary center on a timer? So it would only turns on on sunday mornings and special locations. Like this https://www.camdencontrols.com/products/CX_247

As long as the zoning system was well designed, and there are no problems when operating the boiler on a single zone that is very small compared to the boiler capacity, then you can operate the zone thermostat with any type of control that works!

I have a question about the special occasion use. Would it not be better to use a manually operated timer in conjunction with the seven day timer? that way you could set the timer for the normal cycle of operation for scheduled services. Set it and forget it. On a special occasion such as a wedding or funeral a member of the congregation just needs to turn a dial on a manual timer, that will shut itself off in one or two or three hours.

After you make that expensive repair and you still have the same problem, What will you check next?

Watch out for freezing in that zone when not on.
Put Honeywell 8000 programmable thermostat on the zone you need to set back.
